Case study: Concluded 2015
Business Problem:
SAB Kickstart was 20 years old and in need of a review and revision in line with its founding objectives, in order to scale impact.
Solution space:
The blanket approach to Enterprise Development wasn’t effective in delivering results. More specifically 2 key areas:
- Businesses varying in age (6 months to 8 years) shouldn’t be undergoing the exact same training as they are at different stages of the maturity cycle
- An effective programme leverages portfolio strengths, meaning that a sector focus is advantageous for impact
Recommendations:
- Split the cohorts according to business maturity (i.e. Kickstart Ignite, Kickstart Boost)
- Introduce a sector focus based on GDP and job multipliers
